Apparently the annual trip to Mexico is no laughing matter.

Five people who were taking part in the Baja Ha-Ha sailboat rally from San Diego to Mexico were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard Wednesday.

When the group's 40-foot sailboat capsized about 197-miles southwest of San Diego, the Coast Guard picked up a distress signal from the sailboat's emergency radio beacon and sent a helicopter to rescue them.

All five were pulled to safety from a life raft. One of the rescued individuals suffered a minor hand injury, but otherwise, everyone else was okay.

Nearly 200 sailboats left San Diego as part of the Baja Ha-Ha, a two week trip to Cabo San Lucas. They'll stop in Turtle Bay, Santa Maria and end up in Cabo San Lucas on November 7.

It wasn't the only rescue for the Coast Guard Wednesday.  A fisherman was hospitalized after experiencing severe abdominal pain on an 85-foot sport fishing boat 240-miles south of San Diego.

When the Coast Guard got the call just before 3 a.m., they dispatched a medivan to transport the 65-year-old man to Scripps Memorial Hospital.
