2 Young Men IDd in Deadly Crash

Mario De La Rosa, 21, of Serra Mesa and Paul Alferos Junior, 19, died in the crash.

A memorial has been set up for two young men who died when a 21-year-old driver lost control and slammed into a telephone pole.

The accident happened just after 1 a.m. Saturday at 2929 Clairemont Drive in Bay Park.

Mario De La Rosa, 21, of Serra Mesa lost control of his speeding Toyota Camry and crashed, police said. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

When officials first arrived at they scene they saw what they thought was a pile of clothes in the backseat.  It was actually De La Rosa’s passenger, 19-year old Paul Alferos Junior. He died at the scene.

Officials say alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
