TB Case Prompts Alert at Local Colleges

Students and staff at Mesa and City College are being alerted that they may have been exposed to tuberculosis, according to county health officials.

"TB can be treated and cured with medication and that's why it's so important to identify those who have been exposed," said Dr. Eric McDonald, M.D., M.P.H., County Deputy Public Health Officer.

The period of exposure was Jan. 24 to April 15.

Symptoms of active tuberculosis include persistent cough, fever, night sweats and unexplained weight loss.
