Thousands of children are born every year AT the hospital.

San Diego's newest resident is a born commuter.

A prospective mom was traveling on southbound Interstate 15 in Mira Mesa on Sunday afternoon when the baby just couldn't wait any longer. The car stopped at about 2 p.m., and Dad called 911. Emergency operators passed coaching instructions along to the father of the baby, and when the California Highway Patrol showed up, the infant had been delivered.

Paramedics showed up next at the party, and took the mom to Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns.
