Scripps Memorial Hospital-Encinitas has finalized a $200 million proposal for its first major expansion in more than 15 years, according to a published report.

The hospital is hoping to meet the need for more hospital beds - especially during flu season, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The construction plan would increase the medical facilities by more than 25 percent. Inpatient beds would increase from 138 to 226 and emergency room beds from 12 to 27.
