ESCONDIDO: In unofficial results, Councilman Sam Abed won the Escondido mayor's race with 38 votes and 100 percent of precincts reporting Wednesday morning. Councilwoman Marie Waldron won re-election with 22 percent of votes and former Councilman Ed Gallo had 19 percent of the votes for the second open council seat.

OCEANSIDE: In the race for two open seats on the Oceanside City Council, incumbent City Councilman Jerry Kern won re-election and City Treasurer Gary Felien narrowly won the seat held by Charles "Chuck" Lowery. Kern had 30 percent of the votes Wednesday morning with 100 percent of precincts reporting in unofficial results. Felien had 25 percent of the votes.

CARLSBAD: Councilman Matt Hall is Carlsbad's next mayor with 47 percent of the votes, according to unofficial results. Planning Commissioner Farrah Douglas won a City Council seat with 45 percent of votes. Incumbent Councilman Mark Packard received 35 percent of votes, with 100 percent of the city's precincts reported.

SAN MARCOS: San Marcos City Council candidate Chris Orlando unofficially won a council seat with 28 percent of votes. Kristal Jabara beat incumbent Mike Preston with 25 percent of votes and 100 percent of the city's precincts reported.

VISTA: Vista City Councilwoman Judy Ritter won the Vista mayoral election in unofficial results. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Ritter got 57 percent of the votes. John Aguilera, with 23 percent of the votes, and Dave Cowles, with 17 percent of the votes won two seats on the Vista City Council.

ENCINITAS: Kristin Gaspar appears to have won an Encinitas City Council seat with 29 percent of votes, as did Teresa Barth with 26 percent of votes and 100 percent of precincts reporting.

POWAY: Mayor Don Higginson beat his challenger, R.W. Nick Stavros, with 54 percent of votes and 100 percent of precincts reporting, according to unofficial results.
