The truck hauling empty tanks struck the sign at Pennsylvania Avenue at about 11 p.m. Tuesday and flipped over, according to the California Highway Patrol. Fuel from the truck leaked onto the freeway, the CHP reported.
The eastbound side of the freeway was closed at Pennsylvania Avenue so crews could clean up the spill and repair the overhead sign, the CHP reported.
Two left lanes reopened early Wednesday. Other lanes reopened at about 7:30 a.m.
