A man with a felony warrant who was barricaded in a San Jose home since Sunday evening has been taken police custody after an 11-hour standoff.

He surrendered peacefully about 5:30 a.m. Monday. The man was identified by police as 42-year-old Mark Daniel Cuellar.

At one point, while Cuellar was barricaded inside a home in the 3200 block of Vernice Avenue, he told police he couldn't come out because he was "stuck." He had crawled into a small space under the home, police said.

Officers first went to the home about 6:30 p.m. Sunday after getting a  911 call, according to Lt. Danny Acosta.

Several homes had to be evacuated during the negotiations.

Cuellar has a history of violence and weapons possessions, Acosta said.
