Grandson Pleads Not Guilty to Grandmother's Killing

Police found the grandmother's body in kitchen with multiple stab wounds

A man accused of killing his grandmother pleaded not guilty to murder charges Wednesday, officials said.

Armando Sepulveda, 23, was charged Wednesday after police say he stabbed his 59-year-old grandmother multiple times with a knife in her East Los Angeles home on Monday, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Police were called to the grandmother’s home when a family member requested a welfare check on her after she didn’t show up for work that day.

When police arrived, they found her body lying face-down in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds, officials said.

Sepulveda, who was living with his grandmother, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies, police said.

He is charged with one count of murder with the special allegation of personal use of a deadly weapon. If convicted, he faces up to life in a state prison.

He was being held in lieu $1.03 million and is due back in court Nov. 5.
