Green Ticket Is Good as Gold at LA Rams Job Fair

Guest services, ticket takers, ushers, security officers, and event staff are some of the positions offered at the LA Rams jobs event

Jahman Ingram had a big smile on his face when he arrived around midnight for Friday's Los Angeles Rams job fair in South Los Angeles.

That smile was even larger Friday morning when he left the hiring event with a green ticket, meaning he found a job.

"I'm so happy," said Ingram. "I finally get to be able to work and to make some money."

Ingram was one of hundreds of job seekers who lined up overnight to apply for the thousands of positions offered for Los Angeles Rams events. The Rams, back in Southern California after two decades in St. Louis, teamed up with the South Los Angeles Workforce Center, offering over 5,000 positions for guest services, ticket takers, ushers, security officers, and event staff.

"You need no experience for the position," said Arthur Guerrero of the Workforce Center.

What you do need is energy, said Guerrero.

"Like working with the public, and like working with sports," said Guerrero.

Ingram turned out the be a good fit. He aced the interview at the EXPO Center to land the job.

"I'm looking for anything, really," said Ingram. "Mostly customer service, guest services, ushers, anything where I can interact with people because I'm a people person."

Marcus Meshack, in a suit and tie, said he came to the event after losing his job just two days ago.

"I'm out here and I'm pounding the pavement so I can provide for my child," he said.

The job fair requires that applicants bring their driver's liscense, a social security card and that you be dressed for a professional interview.

Those hired in previous job fairs have gone on not only to work for the Rams, but various Los Angeles entertainment events.

Attendees must apply online prior to the event.

A similar event in April drew job seekers who waited overnight to get in line.
The LA Rams will play their first preseason game on Aug. 13 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and open the regular season on Sept. 12 at Levi's Stadium against the San Francisco 49ers. The Rams will make their home regular season debut on Sept 18 against the Seattle Seahawks.
