“Light Dusting” of Snow on Slopes at Lake Tahoe, First Snow Recording of Season

It feels a little like Christmas up in Tahoe, even though it's not even Halloween.

Heavenly Mountain Resort saw a light dusting of snow on Friday, 56 days before the resort opens to the public. It's the first snow sighting of the season in the Sierra.

Resort spokeswoman Sally Gunter said the snowfall is pretty typical this time of year.

"It's not unusual to receive a light dusting," she said. "Of course, it won't stick, but it's a great thing to get people excited."
