Woman Escapes Car Hanging from Parking Structure

A woman made it to safety on Wednesday after the front end of her car hung off the side of a parking structure floor, officials said.

The car was reported "hanging precariously" from the fourth floor of a parking structure in the 200 block of Alvarado Street in Westlake just after 9:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The driver accidentally hit the gas instead of the brakes, driving her car past the barrier, officials said.

"She was lucky that the cables caught her," LAFD Capt. Sean Conway said. "She was lucky that she might have hit her brakes just in time or that the curb her car jumped over stopped her from going four floors down to the bottom."

Fire crews pulled the car back into the garage by 10:20 a.m.
