16-Year-Old Girl Comes Face-to-Face With Intruder in Her Bedroom

A teen girl woke up to find a home intruder in her bedroom, police say.

Noe Gonzalez, 23, made physical contact with the minor, but ran away when she confronted him on Volkwood Street at around 11:10 p.m, a Garden Grove Police Department spokesman said.

Gonzalez was seen on surveillance video entering the home carrying his shirt and shoes.

The girl told NBC4 that she was in her room on her laptop in her room and she heard her bedroom door open around 10:15 p.m. She thought it was her dad, but the door quickly closed

About 40 minutes later he returned, and sat on her bed and patted her, waking her up.

"He was coming toward me and I think he was trying to shush me," she said. NBC4 is not identifying the girl.

She said she wasn't frantic or fearful.

"I was kind of angry," she said. She demanded that he tell her who he was, but he didn't answer.

"I pushed him away toward the door."

The man tried to escape through her 8-year-old brother's room. He was in their parents room at the time.

The girl told her father what happened, and contacted police. When officers arrived they found someone had entered the house through an unlocked sliding glass door.

One of the officers then heard a disturbance from the home directly next door to the first burglary, and was informed by two residents a man was in their house.

"The man was in my home, right there," said the neighbor, who did not want to be identified. She questioned the intruder and asked him what he wanted. He did not answer.

A perimeter was set up and Gonzalez was found hiding in the backyard of a nearby residence.

An officer used a stun gun to disable the suspect and Garden Grove resident Gonzalez was arrested for residential burglary and attempted rape then taken to the Orange County Jail.

A Tustin Police Department K-9, Orange County Sheriffs K-9, and helicopter from the Huntington Beach Police Department provided assistance.

Gonzalez was on probation for residential burglary, police said.

They are investigating whether he may be connected with any other incidents.

Gonzalez faces attempted rape and burglary charges.
