Cross-Freeway High-Speed Pursuit Ends After Cruisers Pin Car

A high-speed pursuit traveling on freeways and streets across Southern California ended after officers struck the car and the driver spun out Wednesday evening.

The chase began at 9:15 p.m. when the driver of a silver Toyota Camry refused to yield to a traffic stop after speeding, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver was traveling of speeds close to 100 miles per hour around 9:25 p.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway.

The California Highway Patrol chased the driver passed the Santa Clarita Valley and Burbank, making it all the way to the Commerce area and Citadel Outlets.

Thick fog made it difficult to see the pursuit from NewsChopper4 as authorities drove through low visibility.

The Camry exited the 105 Freeway at Central and headed toward downtown LA, blowing through stop signs on surface streets.

The driver spun out after a cruiser struck the Camry in the Watts area on Graham Avenue.

The driver attempted to drive away once again.

A cruiser crashed into the car, and other cruisers wedged the Camry up against a parked van so he couldn't get away.

The driver got out of the car almost immediately with hands raised, and officers took him into custody.
