We all know diamonds are a woman’s best friend -- but they could also be your new career.

The Gemological Institute of America is opening its doors to the public Friday for a job fair and open house.

"Zales, Tiffany, Ben Bridge, Robbins Brothers," Kimmel said.

They'll all be there, and might be looking for someone just like you.

"We have 29 companies recruiting for over 200 positions," vice-president and chief marketing officer Kathryn Kimmel said. "We have demos, we have panel discussions, and we have one on one coaching."

You’re invited to check out the museum, talk to experts and artists and see if a career in the jewelry industry might be for you. You can also learn more about all the metals, the gemstones and hear about job opportunities from entry level to management.

The job fair and open house starts at 8 a.m. at the Gemological Institute of America on t 5345 Armada Dr. in Carlsbad. It runs until 2:30 p.m.
