Escondido Police and Fire Departments are asking the public to help find and identify a driver and passenger of a vehicle that was involved in a fatal car accident early morning Sunday.
Police responded to a call of a vehicle that was on fire at Washington Avenue and Elmwood Street around 2:15 a.m., said Officer Scott Walters.
Flames engulfed the van after it and a black Lexus four-door sedan collided, said Walters. The occupant of the van sustained a fatal injury in the accident, Walter added.
The driver and passenger of the Lexus fled the foot on scene, leaving the vehicle and a third occupant, who was treated for injuries at a local hospital, according to a media release.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Traffic Investigator Scott Walters at 760.839.4939.
