2 Killed In Crash Near Ramona

SAN DIEGO -- Two people were killed Tuesday in a collision on state Route 78, east of Ramona, according to the California Highway Patrol.The collision happened at about 6 p.m.According to the CHP, a large truck was traveling eastbound and was swerving across lanes when the driver lost control and swerved into the path of a westbound Lexus sedan.
The driver of the Lexus, a 19-year-old man, and the passenger of the truck, a 50-year-old man, were killed in the crash.An 18-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Lexus, was taken to Palomar Hospital. The driver of the truck, identified as Shannon Shimp, 38, of El Cajon, was also hospitalized.Investigators said alcohol was likely a factor in the crash.
