Police Investigate Weekend Shooting Deaths

ESCONDIDO, Calif. -- A teenager was killed early Saturday in a shooting in Escondido, and another person was shot and killed in an unrelated shooting Saturday evening, police said.VideoEduardo Aranda, 15, was shot to death as he walked northbound on Spruce Street near 7th Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to police. Witnesses said a small red car pulled up next to him and then shot him, police said.
Aranda was pronounced dead at the scene.The second shooting happened at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Police responded to the area of 2nd Avenue and Ash Street and discovered a male with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Witnesses said two men were arguing when one of them pulled a gun from his waistband and fired at the other man's head, police said.Anyone with information in either case is asked to call police at 760 839-4756 or the anonymous tip line 760-743-TIPS (8477).
