OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- San Diego County Sheriff's investigators said they were investigating the fatal stabbing of a Fallbrook man outside a Shell gas station on East Mission Road Wednesday.

Investigators said the suspect, Travis Hopkins, was talking to the victim inside the gas station at about 5:15 p.m., just moments before the stabbing. According to detectives, the two walked out and got into a struggle when Hopkins pulled out a knife and stabbed the man once in the chest while he stood by his Jeep.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.Deputies said Hopkins subsequently boarded a car driven by his girlfriend and the two headed down Highway 76; they chased the car into a condo complex in Oceanside where Hopkins and his girlfriend were eventually taken into custody.Hopkins is wanted on a parole violation, according to officials.
