OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- A woman and her 8-year-old son who were shot by an off-duty police officer have been released from the hospital.

The pair had been hospitalized since the shooting last Saturday in a Lowe's parking lot 150 block of Old Grove Road in Oceanside. The extent of their injuries has not been released to the public. Police have said the woman was unarmed during the incident. The only information police have given about her is that she is in her 20s and is married to a Camp Pendleton Marine.

In other developments in the case, Oceanside police have updated the San Diego police on the latest information in the case.

San Diego police Officer Frank White is accused of firing on a woman and her son in a possible road rage incident. He was put on paid administrative leave after the shooting,

San Diego Police Chief William Lansdowne said he was impressed with the thoroughness of their investigation.

"They gave us a preliminary briefing -- very thorough and very complete -- and probably have about two more weeks to go before they're able to present that as a case to the district attorney for review," Lansdowne said.

Lansdowne also said that the Oceanside police department is still looking for witnesses and reviewing the evidence.
