Man Drives Car Off 100-Foot Ravine

RANCHO PEÑASQUITOS, Calif. -- A man escaped without harm after he drove his car off an embankment, according to fire officials.It happened Friday near the intersection of Mercy Road and Kika Court before 6 p.m.According to Maurice Luque, spokesman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, a man had just purchased a brand new car when he mistakenly put the car in drive, instead of reverse.
The car flew over the hill, adjacent to the parking lot the car was in, and rolled at least once, Luque said. The fall was roughly 100 feet.The man escaped without injury, and Luque credited the fact that he was wearing his seatbelt.
