A San Diego State University astronomer has helped to find a large black hole in orbit.

Astronomy professor Jerome Orosz said that the black hole surrounds a huge companion star. The object is nearly 16 times the size of the sun and is considered to be the biggest and most distant stellar black hole known.

The study was published in this month's issue of the journal Nature.
