Some Potrero residents are saying, however, that the process leaves the election open to fraud.
"We know that the Post Office advises against sending cash in the mail," said one critic.Potrero residents are supposed to vote on Dec. 11 on whether to recall some members of planning committee who voted to allow Blackwater to build a training facility in their Potrero.Blackwater is the most prominent of several security firms in Iraq, providing security forces as well as administering training and technology for governmental agencies .The planning committee is supposed to gauge public desires, then report to the San Diego County of Supervisors. Some Potrero residents complained that committee members didn't do their jobs, because the residents don't want Blackwater in their neighborhood."We're not objecting to military," Raymond Lutz, of CitizenOversight.org. "But put it on an old burned-out base. You know, you can't live there."Previous Stories:
