MIAMI -- Driving around looking for the lowest gas prices can just be a waste of gas. Some companies now offer a service to help cut down on the searching and driving.

As gas prices continue to climb, some motorists find themselves driving long distances to save some money on gas.

Verizon Wireless lets you log onto the mobile Web, then find the lowest gas prices based on your ZIP code or city.

"We cover about 100,000 gas stations nationwide," said Sailvo Cuadra of Verizon Wireless. "It gives you the ability to punch in your address and it will give you the directions to get to your gas station."

WTVJ-TV in Miami tried the service and found that it worked, but not without some minor detail kinks.

One gas station identified by the phone service as an Amoco actually turned out to be a Citgo, but it didn't matter because the price was right.

WTVJ went to five gas stations and all the prices were correct according to the cell phone, except for one gas station where the prices were actually lower than what the cell phone indicated.
