SoundDiego Presents: The Aggrolites

Who wants to feel some dirty reggae?

SoundDiego announced Friday that it was partnering with La Jolla Playhouse to add an Aggrolites show to SoundDiego's March concert series at the local landmark -- tickets go on sale on Friday. So far, the Aggrolites show on March 26 and an Evening With Switchfoot (March 20 -- click here for tickets) are the only shows announced -- but details about another concert are expected to be made public later on Friday.

The Aggrolites know their way around the reggae/ska world. They've worked as hired guns for Dean Morgan and served as the backing band for Phyllis Dillon, Joseph Hill of Culture and Rancid's Tim Armstrong, among others. If that doesn't convince you of their live chops, consider this: The band recorded its 2003 debut album, Dirty Reggae, with only a single take per song, improvising lyrics as needed.

In recent years, the Aggrolites have recorded four more albums, toured with ska legends Madness and reunited with Armstrong for his solo album A Poet's Life. They're also no strangers to the San Diego music scene -- in 2009, they toured with Ocean Beach's own Slightly Stoopid.

Opening for the Aggrolites is the Mike Pinto Band, which combine classic surf with vintage rock, reggae and ska.

The Aggrolites' set at the La Jolla Playhouse promises to be upbeat and contain plenty of upbeats -- tickets can be bought here or call the box office at (858) 550-1010/
