Afghanistan's Karzai Arrives in Pakistan For Taliban Talks

Afghan President Hamid Karzai arrived in Pakistan Monday for meetings expected to focus on stalled peace talks with the Taliban, NBC News reported. Arriving in the Pakistani capital with an 80-member delegation, it was Karzai's first visit to the country since the election of a new government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Karzai and the new prime minister will have one-on-one meetings to discuss how to push forward the stalled peace talks, a senior government official said. Among other topics of discussion, the two men may likely speak about the release of several Afghan Taliban prisoners that include the second-in-command of Afghanistan's Taliban, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.
