Locals Celebrate Day Devoted to Bacon

Love bacon? Go to Bacon Fest

Get ready, San Diego: Bacon Fest is coming.

Yes, you read right, a festival devoted to the incredibly tasty food will be celebrated right here in America’s Finest City on Aug. 31.

So what is Bacon Fest? Well, as you can imagine, it’s not vegetarian-friendly. Hundreds of people will gather in Point Loma to sample an array of bacon from local eateries, including Carnitas Snack Shack and Hash House A Go Go. Plus bacon business Slater’s 50/50, known for its patties featuring 50 percent ground bacon, will have burgers on site for tasting. Yum!

Think that’s all? Think again. Craft beer from more than 25 popular breweries will be on hand to pair with the bacon-y goodness. There is also select wine, cocktails and desserts to round out your bacon-eating experience.

The 21+ event begins at 1 p.m. on Aug. 31 at NTC Promenade Preble Field Liberty Station. Tickets are $60, with VIP passes priced at $100.

Aug. 31 is also known as International Bacon Day. Well isn’t that perfect, now you know where to celebrate!
