Weekend Events for April 5-7

San Diego is plentiful with events, including a sushi showdown and crew competition

This first weekend in April has plenty of fun events for you to choose from. From fashion to cars and competition, here’s what’s happening this weekend.

Friday, April 5

Crew Classic

3 p.m. at Crown Point Park

The annual rowing competition kicks off on Friday afternoon with a beer garden and art festival. Watch teams practice in the bay and mingle with more than 4,000 athletes who attend the three-day event. Tickets start at $12 and the event continues into Sunday.

Saturday, April 6

Fashion With a Passion
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 350 10th Ave.
The 4th annual Fashion With A Passion event benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation will definitely be one of the weekend’s most colorful events. In addition to a fashion swap, there will be food, cocktails and raffle prizes. Tickets are $25 and proceeds are donated to Make-A-Wish San Diego.

Run or Dye
8 a.m. at Qualcomm Stadium
This colorful run features dye stations that will make you look like a box of crayons by the end of the race. Registration is $55.

Vin Diego
5-8 p.m. at Broadway Pier
Foodies and winos will love this tasty event featuring amazing eats and more than 200 wine samples. Plus you’ll be at Broadway Pier during the best time of day: Sunset. Grab your tickets before they sell out, cost is $85.

La Jolla Concours d’Elegance

6-9 p.m. at Ellen Scripps Browning Park

One of the most luxurious events of the year returns to La Jolla Cove for three days this weekend. View dozens of vintage cars while enjoying live entertainment at the picturesque park. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 on the day of the event.

V Elements
9 a.m. to midnight at Liberty Station
This yoga and music festival will have you saying "Namaste" by the end of the day. Ticket prices start at $15, and includes entrance to concerts and special yoga classes.


Sunday, April 7

FIGMENT

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Chicano Park
San Diego is hosting its first FIGMENT event, which is part of a national movement to showcase local artists. Anyone is allowed to participate by performing at the park or bringing their own artwork.

Sushi Showdown
3-6 p.m. at 474 Broadway
If you love sushi, this eating competition at RA Sushi in downtown San Diego is calling your name. Competitors will face off in a bracket-style sushi consuming competition and the winner will claim the prize of free sushi for a year.

Art a la Carte
5 to 8 p.m. at 3777 La Jolla Village Dr.
Explore some of San Diego’s local art while dining on delicious eats. This miniature art walk is free to attend, and nearby restaurants will have special deals to pair.
