The OB Street Fair Gets Cookin'

The OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off takes over the neighborhood on June 24

Reasons why you should be in Ocean Beach on Saturday, June 24: five stages of live music, a chili cook-off, art, free bike valet and a beachside beer garden.

Fun and free for all ages, the 38th annual OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off runs from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and will host more than 70,000 visitors. Chili tastings begin at 11 a.m. with a cost of $2 per entry, or sample all the magical fruit for $20 with a "Master Ticket" that allows you to vote for the best chili. Snag those tickets here.

Once you’ve had your fair share of delicious homemade chili, head over to Artist Alley on Cable Street where you will run into all sorts of arts, crafts, clothing, and cosmetics. Lookin' to get your drink on? Head to the beachside beer garden and wash that chili down with some tasty suds (entry to the garden is free to 21-and-up patrons, with beers sold individually -- no ticket required).

Something you won’t be able to escape at the the OB Street Fair? Music. With five stages taking over the neighborhood, your ears will consume musical styles ranging from reggae to rockabilly to surf-rock. Performers include Cardinal Moon, the Routine, Lexington Field, the Moves Collective and Behind the Wagon (among many others).

If that isn’t enough music for you, Rock & Roll San Diego will be in attendance. The full service music center allows fair attendees to pick up an instrument and learn how to play a song in 15 minutes.

Who knows -- maybe next year, you'll be performing at the OB Street Fair.
