Take a Walk to Help Farm Animals

Every fall thousands of people across the country walk to support mistreated, abused and neglected farm animals.

Saturday morning at the Embarcadero animal lovers will join Farm Sanctuary’s Walk for Farm Animals.

While cats and dogs and other pets usually get more press cows, chickens, turkeys and goats will reign supreme as supporters walk to raise money for their benefit.

The walk will support Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit with two farms near LA and San Francisco dedicated to rescuing and giving farm animals a peaceful and happy life.

Proceeds will help their efforts to rescue, provide medical care, feed and house farm animals in need.

The Nonprofit has three sanctuaries, two in California and one in New York, each with hundreds of rescued animals getting to live happy lives.

According to Farm Sanctuary every day millions of animals are beaten, neglected, and forced to live in their own filth on factory farms.

Laws have been passed in California such as banning eggs bought from chickens kept in cages so small they can’t move, but the group says more needs to be done to protect animals and more people need to be made aware.

People interested in joining the walk can sign up on their website.
