Shout! House Celebrates 10 Years with Party

The dueling piano bar is hosting an anniversary party Thursday night

After years of the tickling the ivories in San Diego’s Gaslamp District, the Shout! House dueling piano bar is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The bar is hosting a big party for its longtime customers to honor the occasion, so guests will be treated to a red carpet stroll, appetizers, drinks and giveaways from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday, March 27.

Of course, The Shout! House will also be hosting the battle royale for which it has become famous: two singing piano players going head-to-head on two grand pianos.

It’s a fight to the (music’s) death as they take audience requests, covering everything from classic rock to today’s Top 40 hits.

Owner Bob Walin credits the business’ family-like way of running things for why they’ve been able to stay open while so many other companies come and go in that area.

“At The Shout! House, our company culture is important to our success,” Walin said in a release. “If our employees are happy, they will create an amazing experience for our guests. We couldn’t have gotten this far without our dedicated piano players and staff and our loyal, enthusiastic fans.”

Thursday’s party acts as a run-up to a new, sister venture by Walin: a live music-driven venue.

The Garage will be unveiled in April right next door to the dueling piano bar. The two-story, 5,000-square-foot space will host live music and a food and drink menu.

The Shout! House is located at 655 4th Avenue in downtown San Diego.
