Looking for something fun to do with the kids without breaking the bank this month? Well, the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park has it covered.

Throughout the month of October, children 11 years old and younger will get free admission to both parks during the “Kids Free” event presented by Mission Fed.

The freebie offer began Tuesday, with a large group of kids visiting the zoo. During a special up-close animal encounter, children got the opportunity to meet a woma, a python native to central Australia (pictured above).

In addition to free admission in October, the month-long “Kids Free” event includes educational shows, kid-friendly activities and special animal encounter opportunities.

For instance, on the Joan Embery’s Front Street Stage, children can meet an animal ambassador up-close daily at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Meanwhile, over in the Outback area, young visitors can enjoy daily activities at the Koala Club for Kids at 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
