Comic-Con 2014 Banners Showcase Marvel Comics Characters

San Diego Comic-Con International  is just around the corner – and the event banners lining the streets of downtown San Diego are offering a glimpse into this year’s pop culture extravaganza.

The banners feature several different characters, including Baymax, a fluffy, white robot from the new Disney film, “Big Hero 6.” The animated movie follows young robotics genius Hiro Hamada and his self-made robot, Baymax. When the two discover trouble in San Fransokyo, they join forces with friends Wasabi, Honey Lemon, GoGo Tomago and Fred to fight crime in their city.

Based off the Marvel comic, the film is directed and produced by the same team behind "Winnie the Pooh," "Bolt" and "Tangled." It hits theaters in November.

Other Comic-Con banners hanging above the downtown area will feature Marvel characters from the film, “Guardians of the Galaxy.” That flick centers around adventurer Peter Quill, who obtains a coveted orb, desperately wanted by villainous Ronan.

After Ronan threatens the fate of the universe, Quill and a gang of heroic misfits must work together to restore the galaxy once they discover the true power of the mysterious orb. The action-packed movie is scheduled for an Aug. 1 release.

Comic-Con takes place at the San Diego Convention Center in just a few weeks, from July 24-27.
