October Events in North San Diego

This month, fall and fun go hand-in-hand in the North County

October isn’t all about costumed capers! Check out this list of fun (and ghost-free) events happening this month in San Diego’s North County from Yelp’s Event Page.

2nd Annual Rhythm & Brews Music Festival: Oct. 4; 12-6 p.m. (Vista)
Craft brews, music and food make for the perfect North County San Diego Saturday. For $30, attendees at the 2nd Annual Rhythm & Brews Music Festival will get 10 tasty samples of their choice from more than 20 local breweries and enjoy five live bands (such as The Devastators, Shoreline Rootz and Cloud Feather) in the historic downtown Vista setting. Also in attendance: food trucks offering delicious dishes. Get your tickets in advance for this event.

The Wedge Festival 2013: Oct. 12; 2-8 p.m. Grand St. (Escondido)
Is dairy your downfall? Wine your true love? Finally, a festival for those who feast on lactose and drown their worries in vino: it’s the artisanal cheese and wine festival known as The Wedge On Grand! For $35, you can tour over 25 food stops and get your choice of 10 wine and/or beer pairings. It’s the perfect weekend “wine-down,” if you will.

Tails at Twilight: Oct. 12; 5-9 p.m. Vintana Wine + Dine (Escondido)
The Escondido Humane Society’s 20th Annual Gala – taking place at Vintana Wine + Dine in Escondido – comes complete with hosted drinks, tasty tidbits, silent and live auction items and comedic entertainment by Elayne Boosler. Puppy attendees will be in tow, complete with special “dog butlers” to handle the leashes. Tickets for this great cause start at $125. But, let’s face it, you can’t put a price on man’s best friend.

Kids Day at the San Marcos Farmers Market: Oct. 20; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (San Marcos)
Pile on the produce then take a break at the bouncy house. Or, how about fresh fruits, veggies and face painting? Nothing says North County Farmer’s bounty like balloon animals. This is a free event and it happens every third Sunday of the month. Grab the family for some fun and support San Diego growers by shopping local for the week!

NFL at Surfside in Del Mar: Oct. 2-25; (Del Mar)
Betcha didn’t know this is the largest sports bar in San Diego? And speaking of betting, go ahead. It’s open Wednesday through Sunday with contests throughout the month, not to mention the Vegas Style racebook, 90,000 square feet, seven rooms and over 1,000 TVs! Cover charge is $5 but free for active military any day with ID.
