Dining Out on Thanksgiving: North County Edition

Here's a round-up of restaurants offering mouthwatering menus on Thanksgiving

Don’t feel like cooking this Thanksgiving (Nov. 28)? Hang up your apron and don’t bother polishing the silver. Yelp has the scoop on where you can gobble down some turkey with all the trimmings in San Diego’s North County, leaving your belly full and your kitchen spic-and-span.

Union Tap & Kitchen (Encinitas):
There’s nothing more North County than celebrating Thanksgiving with a local pint or two. The Union Tap and Kitchen is offering a special holiday menu at $44.95 per person and it's a downright feast. It includes wedge salad, smoked shrimp and Kabocha squash chowder, Diestel turkey, rosemary smoked prime rib, maple-glazed pork tenderloin, pumpkin ricotta tart, beignets, and more. Thanksgiving dinner is served from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Calling ahead to make sure you get a seat is highly recommended.

28 West + Lounge at Morgan Run (Rancho Santa Fe):

If this gorgeous venue doesn’t bait you, the incredible traditional Thanksgiving buffet sure will. Offered from noon until 4:00 p.m. you’ll find an “Autumn Tide” section loaded with prawns, mussels and other seafood. There’s also a selection of “Northern Plains” dishes such as butternut squash bisque, glazed ham and all the turkey and trimmings you could want, including a cinnamon citrus raspberry sauce. The dessert table is piled high as well, and there’s a special kids buffet. The price for adults is $50, while the kids price is $25.

Bernard’O Restaurant (Rancho Bernardo):

For $37.50 per person, a special prix fixe menu will be offered from 11:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Start with fall-flavored butternut squash soup or salad, then move on to roasted turkey served two ways with sides of mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry stuffing. The perfect finish is traditional pumpkin pie with ice cream (or a decadent chocolate mousse). If none of that tickles your fancy a limited a la carte menu is also available throughout the day. For entertainment, the eatery will have live music. Reservations are a must.

California Bistro at the Park Hyatt Aviara (Carlsbad):

You’ll be more stuffed than the turkey at this upscale Thanksgiving day brunch buffet. For $85 per person, patrons get a seafood display featuring Carlsbad oysters, loads of smoked salmon, caviar, multiple hot stations with all the fixings, artisan salumi, an array of salads and, naturally, a festive carving station slicing roasted free range turkey and California roast prime rib. Don’t even get us started on the dessert tables. This spread is served from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Definitely call ahead.

Vineyard Rose at South Coast Winery (Temecula):

Worried about wine pairings? Don’t be! Thanksgiving dinner is served right at the winery with seating options from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (call ahead to reserve).
