18th Annual Meet The Chefs Event to Offer Good Eats for a Great Cause

Top chefs to prepare fine meals to benefit abused children and families at Hilton San Diego on May 4

Fine food and a great cause are on the menu for an annual culinary event featuring some of San Diego’s top chefs.

Teaming up to create a foodie’s dream event is Meet the Chefs and non-profit Casa de Amparo where top chefs from across San Diego prepare some of the best dishes the city has to offer.

In total, 19 of San Diego’s top chefs from 18 restaurants are going to donate their time and food for the event, which will happen on Sunday May 4 from 12:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hilton San Diego.

For 18 years Meet the Chefs has transformed to become one of San Diego’s top culinary events.

Along with fine wine and food, organizers say guests at Meet the Chefs are doing their part to support Casa de Amparo’s mission to be a safe haven for abused and neglected children, teens, and young adults.

Casa de Amparo, which translates to home of protection, serves over 850 children, teens, and young adults each year at its locations in Oceanside and San Marcos, according to staff. Along with that, the non-profit helps as many as 675 families with its programs.

“I’ve been part of Casa de Amparo’s spectacular cause and the startup of Meet the Chefs since its inception in 1996,” said Pamplemousse Grille Chef and Owner Jeffrey Strauss. “To see the event’s growth and development with the support of committed staff, donors, and businesses for nearly two decades is nothing short of a miracle.”
