To celebrate another year of business, Ben & Jerry's is giving out free ice cream cones on April 14, 2015.

Here’s some sweet news: Ben & Jerry’s is hosting its 36th annual Free Cone Day Tuesday meaning patrons can snag a scoop of ice cream for free.

From 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., the scoop shops will offer the freebie.

In San Diego, Ben & Jerry’s has two locations: one at Seaport Village and the other downtown at Westfield Horton Plaza mall.

The giveaway at the Horton Plaza location will benefit the San Diego Humane Society. All donations received from patrons during Free Cone Day will directly support the animals, programs and services offered by the San Diego Humane Society.

The location will also host a mobile adoption event from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

According to the company, Free Cone Day dates back to 1979 when Ben & Jerry’s celebrated its first year in business by scooping free cones all day in the company’s little hometown of Burlington, Vermont.

Today, the global giveaway spans shops across 36 countries and churns out more than one million free scoops each year.
