Coronado Operator Plans New Steakhouse Concept

Blue Bridge Hospitality of Coronado plans a spring 2014 opening for Stake Chophouse + Bar, the company’s sixth restaurant concept and eighth location in that city.

The company said Stake, to open in a 4,600-square-foot space at 1309 Orange Ave., will be an upscale steakhouse that will also serve fresh seafood and include a large selection of wines and martinis. The second-story space was previously occupied by Ristorante La Terrazza, and is currently undergoing extensive renovation.

Blue Bridge Corporate Chef Tim Kolanko will initially oversee Stake’s culinary program, though an executive chef has yet to be announced.

Blue Bridge Hospitality was founded in 1998 by cousins and Coronado residents David Spatafore and Leroy Mossel. The company’s other concepts, all located in Coronado, are MooTime Creamery, Village Pizzeria, Lil’ Piggy’s Bar-B-Q, Coronado Coffee Company and Leroy’s Kitchen.
