Cyclists Gear Up to Ride in Mission Hills

Bicyclists will also make their way to Presidio Park near Old Town San Diego during Sunday's ride

Cyclists will take over the streets of Mission Hills Sunday for Bike Local Sunday, an event hosted by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition.

The bicycling event lasts all day and encourages people to ride their bikes to local businesses and support the economy in their neighborhood.

The San Diego Business Improvement District Council and the Mission Hills Business District helped organize the event, and several Mission Hills businesses will offer discounts throughout the day to customers.

Businesses participating in the Bike Local Sunday event include Brooklyn Girl, The Red Door, Meshuggah Shack, The Gathering, Toma Sol Café and more.

A casual neighborhood bike ride begins at 10 a.m. at the Mission Hills Bike Shop at 141 W. Washington St., near Front Street and 1ST Avenue. The ride will wind through Presidio Park near Old Town San Diego before returning to the Mission Hills Business District.

The ride coincides with the 2nd Annual CicloSDias Mini in Presidio Park, another small, local cycling event.
