International Bacon Day is on Saturday and some San Diego eateries will partake in the pig out action by offering sizzling treats brimming with crispy, beloved bacon.

Bacon lovers looking to spice things up may enjoy the Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeños ($8) served at The Blind Burro in downtown San Diego’s East Village area. The dish includes housemade chorizo, queso Oaxaca, chipotle-tomatillo-piloncillo sauce and, of course, Applewood bacon.

Over at the Point Loma-based bakery, The Cravory, foodies craving a bacon treat with a sweeter twist can pick up a Pancakes and Bacon Cookie ($2). The sweet-meets-salty cookies are made with pancake dough and topped with hand-chopped, maple-smoked bacon.

Meanwhile, in Carlsbad, Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi Bar will offer a surf-meets-swine type bite during dinner hours: Scallops Wrapped With Bacon ($10).

North Park’s hip spot, Urban Solace, plans to celebrate Bacon Day with its brunch item, Kitchen Sink Biscuits ‘n’ Gravy ($14.50), which boasts sausage, two fried eggs and brown sugar slab bacon.

Over at Liberty Station, the newly opened Soda & Swine eatery (also with a location in North Park) will offer its usual meaty fare, including beef meatball burgers topped with bacon. At the bar, the S&S Old Fashioned ($9) will take the bacon obsession up a notch. The cocktail features Henry McKenna bourbon, brown sugar cola syrup and housemade bacon-infused angostura bitters.

In Coronado, Stake Chophouse & Bar will serve a sizzling Happy Hour appetizer dubbed Brooklyn Bacon Steak ($5.50) – a charred, flavorful, extra-thick cut of pork perfection.

Finally, patrons can go hog wild at Draft Republic in University City with this Happy Hour special: Housemade Crispy Maple Bourbon Bacon Sticks ($5) served with apple chips.

If you still haven’t gotten your fix of bacon at a local eatery or two, head over to San Diego BaconFest at Liberty Station & NTC Park. The 21+, all-day tasting event will boast unlimited samples of the best in bacon bites from more than 30 local eateries including Cork & Craft, Saltbox, Slater’s 50/50 and The Whole Hog, just to a few. The event will be topped off with lots of craft beer, spirits and live music, too.
