Aquatica Water Park in Chula Vista Plans New Attraction

Aquatica SeaWorld’s Waterpark in Chula Vista will open a new 375-foot slide attraction called Taumata Racer, set to debut on Memorial Day weekend of 2014.

A statement from Orlando-based SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment said construction on the new attraction is set to begin next month.

Park operators said Taumata Racer will zip riders around a 180-degree swooping turn, taking them in and out of tunnels before they cross the finish line.

The new slide will be located between the park’s Walhalla Wave and Kata’s Kookaburra Cove attractions, on the north side of the property.

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment is part of SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: SEAS), and operates 12 U.S. theme parks including SeaWorld San Diego. The company purchased the former Knott’s Soak City in Chula Vista and opened it earlier this year under its Aquatica banner, following an extensive renovation.
