Katie Couric To Leave CBS News on May 19

Katie Couric’s final day of anchoring "CBS Evening News" will be this Thursday

Couric announced her departure near the end of last night’s broadcast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“As some of you may already know I’m moving on from CBS News,” Couric said. She mentioned  that on her last day, she’ll reflect on “some of the amazing stories we’ve covered over the past five years.”

Scott Pelley will officially take over the anchor desk June 6. Until then, rotating substitute anchors will fill in.

Ric Kaplan, who was Couric’s executive producer at "CBS Evening News," recently left the network for ABC News, The Associated Press reported.

Couric has been mentioned to host a talk show for ABC daytime next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. An announcement of that possible move could follow after Couric’s CBS contract expires June 4.
