Heidi Montag's plastic surgeon has addressed claims by the reality star that she almost died following her surgery.
In a new interview with Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson, Dr. Frank Ryan said Heidi's comments to Access' Billy Bush – that she almost died in recovery – aren't correct.
"I almost died after my procedure," Heidi told Billy on Monday. "I had too much Demerol like Michael Jackson did and my breathing was five breaths per minute which is like almost dead. [I was] in an aftercare center, there were nurses that were supposed to be tending to me at all times."
But that isn't how her doctor remembers it.
"That didn't happen as far as I know," he told Shaun on Tuesday.
"Where would she get that information from?" Shaun asked.
"I don't know," Dr. Ryan said.
Heidi also claimed in her interview with Billy that medical personnel, "had to put oxygen on my face and call my plastic surgeon to come in for an emergency."
"So Heidi got that information wrong?" Shaun asked the doctor.
"Yeah," Dr. Ryan replies.
Heidi told Billy on Monday that, despite some claims, she is not addicted to plastic surgery.
"I do love it and I appreciate it and I appreciate the science behind it," she explained. "How incredible… we [are] blessed to even have this surgery that we have. We're so advanced. If Cleopatra were alive now, I'm sure she'd have triple D's… there's always been a struggle between pain and beauty. I feel like since the beginning of time."
And Dr. Ryan too, refutes the claim or criticism he should not have operated on the star.
"I knew going in, one of the angles was the 'addiction angle,' which is a media-driven sort of angle. That's just not true," he said. "I was like, 'Are you kidding me?'"
"But you do not think Heidi is addicted to plastic surgery?" Shaun asked.
"Oh, it's not that I don't think, I know [she's not]," he said. "I mean again I do not, would never in a million years, and did not and would not operate on someone who's addicted to plastic surgery."
"Were you concerned about your own reputation?" Shaun asked.
"Yeah, that's exactly why I'm doing these interviews," he said. "It's just not true. Heidi just wanted to improve her image. She's a savvy business woman."
When asked about criticisms by some – that 10 surgeries at one time signals some type of addiction, Dr. Ryan revealed Heidi had more procedures than was revealed.
"I really call it 30 surgeries because if we're gonna count Botox injections we should count every single injection, and both breasts, not just you know so it's two surgeries," he said. "Why say 10 surgeries? It sells magazines."
Heidi told Billy she might want more surgeries, but Dr. Ryan said no.
"I mean, come on. What does she need? She's a beautiful girl," he said.
"You're not ruling it out though?" Shaun asked.
"Yeah, I'm ruling it out. I can't imagine what she would possibly want," he responded.
But Dr. Ryan said another Montag may want to go under the knife.
"Her mother on the other hand, saw the pictures and called Heidi right away and said, 'Heidi, I want him to do a mommy makeover for me.. Can you arrange that?'" he added.
And he claimed Heidi's mother wants the surgery soon.
"For Valentine's Day," Dr. Ryan claimed. "Heidi may buy it for her for Valentine's Day."
