“Glee” Creators Open Up About Second Season

Just a week after receiving 19 Emmy nominations for its breakout first season, the crew behind "Glee" is already deep into planning the show's second act.

Ryan Murphy, the creative mind behind the hit musical, along with writers Ian Brennan and Brad Fulchuk revealed that several well-known stars will appear, or reappear, and that Finn and Rachel will stay together during a panel session in Beverly Hills earlier this week, according to a Reuters report.

Javier Bardem, the actor best known in the U.S. for his role as hired killer Anton Chigurh in "No Country for Old Men," will stop in to play a Spanish rocker who jams out with the kids. Kristin Chenoweth is also set to reprise her role as April Rhodes.

The second season will also feature a Britney Spears-themed episode, a new love interest for Terri, the ex-wife of school teacher Will, and more screen time for Brittany, an air-headed cheerleader.

There will also be fewer musical acts per episode and a greater emphasis on character development.

The creators continued to be surprised by the show's success.

"I feel very stunned that people got it in a big way ... because I do think it's a very unusual show and a very unusual tone. ... There's never been a musical on television that has worked, so the fact that it is embraced as much as it has been is just amazing to me," Murphy said.
