Woman's $9M Suit Faults Bieber for Hearing Loss from Fans' Screams

A woman says she left Bieber's concert with hearing loss thanks to a combination of fans' zeal and an unusual set piece

Justin Bieber now has yet another testament to just how loyal his legions of fans are: A lawsuit.

The 17-year-old pop heartthrob is being sued by a woman who says she suffered hearing loss and severe tinnitus as a result of all his fans' screaming β€” and an unusual stage set piece β€” at one of his concerts.

In the suit she filed in Oregon federal court on Thursday against the pop star, his label, the show promoter and the arena, Stacey Wilson Betts blames her injuries on a Bieber show she took her daughter to in Portland two years ago.

"Justin Bieber climbed into a heart-shaped, aluminum/steel gondola and was pulled out over the crowd. Mr. Bieber created a wave-like effect of screaming by pointing into various sections of the arena, then enticed the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving his arms in a quick and upward motion," her suit explains.

"The gondola that Justin Bieber was suspended in acted as a sound conductor, creating a sound blast that permanently damaged both of my ears," she added.

Betts is asking for a whopping $9.23 million in damages for her medical expensises, pain and suffering, disability and loss of quality of life.

No word on her daughter's experience at the show.

The case is 3:12-CV-01253.
