Chelsea Handler Announced as Host of Video Music Awards

The 2010 Video Music Awards are about to be shaken and stirred.

Boozy and bawdy comedian  Chelsea Handler revealed that she will host MTV's annual awards show, reports Entertainment Weekly.

"Everyone knows that when you think of rap music and hip-hop, you think of 'Chelsea Lately'," she said by way of making the announcement on her show.

“This has been a huge year for hip-hop and rap, and it is well-known that I have the closest ties with these communities — musically and sexually,” Handler said. “I am to rap and hippity-hop, what Warren Buffet is to finance, minus the sex.”

The "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," author takes over for outlandish British comic star Russell Brand, who hosted the last two years.

Known for her acidic wit, Handler will have quite an array of stars to savage, as Justin Bieber, Drake and Kanye West are all scheduled to peform. Ke$ha, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and Alshley Greene are among the slated presenters.

West's appearance will almost certainly be a point of attack for Handler due to his infamous bum rush of country star Taylor Swift at last year's awards.

The show is set to broadcast live from Los Angeles September 12 at 9 p.m.

Alert the FCC.
