Sarah Jessica Parker will be portraying Gloria Steinem in the upcoming film about "Deep Throat" star Linda Lovelace.

Who better to crusade against vulgarity than someone who spent six seasons chatting with Samantha Jones ?

"Sex and the City" and "I Don't Know How She Does It" star Sarah Jessica Parker has taken over the role of feminist icon Gloria Steinem in the upcoming film "Lovelace," a biopic of notorious 70s porn star Linda Lovelace.

The role was originally given to Demi Moore, but the actress dropped out of the project after being hospitalized for "exhaustion" and "stress" following her public break-up with Ashton Kutcher.

Steinem, of course, once went undercover at the Playboy Club to shed light on its sexist practices, and dedicated her life to crusading for the rights of women.

Actress Chloe Sevigny ("Big Love") has also joined the cast as a journalist assigned to write a story about Lovelace.

Lovelace was once interviewed for Steinem's "Ms." magazine, and it was there that the "Deep Throat" star first revealed that she had been pressured into prostitution and porn by her abusive husband, Chuck Traynor.

Amanda Seyfried stars as Lovelace in the film, with Peter Sarsgaard taking the role of Traynor.
