Madonna learned just how hard editing a film can be when she starting piecing together "W.E."
All's fair in love, war...and editing.
Madonna revealed that the process of molding her film "W.E." in the editing room proved to be loaded with difficult decisions - including leaving her own daughter on the cutting room floor.
The film, which is about a New York woman who becomes obsessed with the relationship between King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson, originally featured a scene where Madonna's daughter, Lourdes Leon, portrayed the teenage version of the film's protagonist, Wally Winthrop.
"I just kind of dragged her in at the last minute," Madonna admitted to MTV. "It was quite unfair of me what I did and what I asked her to do."
When the film was completed, Lourdes' scene was no longer in it.
"She was really great and then I ended up cutting her out of the film. Ruthless, I know," Madonna said. "I said, 'Sorry babe, you're on the cutting room floor.' She took it like a champ."
