“The Office” Gets Super-Sized Series Finale

Looks like our stay in Scranton will be extended.

NBC announced today that "The Office" series finale will be super-sized, with an extra 15 minutes tacked onto the episode. The send-off will air from 9 p.m. to 10:15 p.m., and a new episode of "Hannibal" will follow.

In March, "Office" fan site OfficeTally started a petition on Change.org directed at NBC Chairman of Entertainment Robert Greenblatt, and creator Greg Daniels told TVLine.com that they were begging NBC for a longer finale. The petition read: "Please grant Mr. Daniels' request, because longer is better. That's what she said."

"The Office" series finale (airing May 16), will have a wedding, a plethora of new and returning guest stars, and maybe, just maybe, an appearance from Michael Gary Scott (Steve Carell).

It all adds up to more time to say goodbye to "The Office." We'll need all the minutes we can get.

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
