Pregnant Meteorologist Katie Fehlinger Fires Back at ‘Haters' Who Criticize Her Body: ‘I Will Gladly Gain 50 Pounds' for Twins

Katie Fehlinger knows that being on local TV can result in plenty of criticism and viewpoints from audiences. But as she eagerly waits to welcome twin girls in just a few weeks, the CBS3 Philadelphia meteorologist was shocked to witness all of the negative criticisms about her body while delivering the forecast day after day.

Ultimately, Fehlinger decided to stand up for herself and many moms-to-be who are trying to enjoy their journey to parenthood.

"Once more, I have to get something off my chest. So, the nature of my job makes me an easy target for criticism," she wrote in a Facebook post going viral. "I will always understand that, and I will most typically just ignore it. However, after someone blatantly called me a 'sausage in casing' and another declared that 'sticking your pregnant abdomen out like that is disgusting,' I felt a need to draw a line and speak up."

She continued, "This little manifesto of sorts is dedicated to every mother out there – other pregnant moms-to-be, moms reading this while their toddlers play on the swing set, moms whose kids have long since gone off to college...You are beautiful."

Fehlinger continued to explain that while some symptoms of pregnancy aren't exactly "glamorous," the ability to welcome a child into the world is nothing short of "amazing" and should be filled with support.

"Frankly, I don't care how 'terrible' or 'inappropriate' anyone thinks I look. I will gladly gain 50 pounds & suffer sleepless, uncomfortable nights if it means upping my chances to deliver 2 healthy baby girls," she wrote. "And for those of you who think that's 'disgusting,' remember a woman went through the very same thing to bring YOU into the world."

NBC4 Los Angeles morning anchor Daniella Guzman showed her support of Fehlinger by proudly displaying her own baby bump on Instagram. Also showing his support was Guzman's co-anchor Whit Johnson – with a little help from some extra padding.

As for all of the love and support she's received from males and females alike, Fehlinger insists she wrote the post for "some catharsis." But as she pointed out, it's hard for people not to relate.

"In the meantime, let's all remember the lesson Mom taught us," Fehlinger concluded. "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all."
